Tia Sprenger is a health and dance enthusiast! Tia’s been happily working as Joffrey Ballet School NYC’s Health & Wellness Coordinator and Health & Nutrition/Kinetic Studies Teacher since 2012. Tia is an Iowa native and graduate of Winona State University with a BS in Health Promotion along with minors in both Dance and Wellness Coaching. Tia’s passion for dancer health stemmed from her life in the studio, dancing since the age of 4. At an early age, Tia began assisting with Very Special Arts Iowa, Janice Baker’s program to bring the joy of dance to those struggling with mental or physical disabilities. She later continued with community outreach by dancing in such roles as Sadako in Beth Harano-Adams’ Sadako and the Thousand Cranes. After discovering her passion for dancer health, she interned as a physical therapy technician. Tia also completed her certification for nursing assistants at Mercy Hospital. After that, she received instruction from the Mayo Clinic Wellness Coaching staff. She created and implemented a mobile Sexually Transmitted Infection testing program for Semcac Family Planning Clinic. Tia was a research presenter on the topic of dancer health at the American College Dance Festival 2012 and presented at the Minnesota Dance Education Summit 2012. She’s also an Authorized Provider for the American Red Cross instructing in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
